my iPod stops working

Postby Antony » Mon 07 Nov, 2005 7:13 am

Bad news, I can't use my iPod. When I came home tonight, I tried to switch on my iPod, but it won't play any songs. So I restarted it.

After restarting it, it showed Apple logo for a few seconds then the Folder and Exclamation mark (as shown on the right). As the usual step, I reset the iPod. It turns out to be the same, an Apple logo showed for a few seconds then the folder and exclamation mark. I followed the Apple Support article, the reset failed. I could not update the software, and I can't restore it.

I called Apple Support, and the solution is to send my iPod to service. Lucky I bought AppleCare Protection for iPod.

This is what I receive when I plug my iPod to my Mac.

I managed to click the "Restore," and I received following:

I will send my iPod to my local Apple service centre, if I have time. I knew buying AppleCare Protection Plan was a wise choice.

Additional information: iPod shows a folder icon with exclamation point when you turn it on (Apple KB 61003)

The story so far. I took my iPod to local Apple retailer, I can't believe how easy it is to get serviced.

I was expecting to explain to them exactly what happened, and they would test it over there (and try to restore the iPod for me.) Instead, they saw the “folder and exclamation iconâ€

My iPod is back!

They replaced it with a brand new one (same model). Product is guaranteed to perform as specified during warranty period. Great products and great service from Apple!
 A good reason to buy Apple products.

I could've picked up my iPod yesterday, but I was not with my mobile :-(

Good to hear your iPod is working again.

I am thinking about getting AppleCare for my iPod mini, but I am currently undecided.

Thanks. And we all like Apple when they replace with brand new one.

Just remember to get it before the end of the first year...

And, let's guess here for a moment. Your mobile is a Motorola ROKR with iTunes, right? :P

No. If you read AntBlog701, you should know the brand of my mobile.

Since I haven't used the iPod after I got a warranty replacement from Apple, so I figured that I can live without iPod.

So I am now officially iPodless.
