Since I got the D-Link Xtreme N Gigabit Router (mentioned in [sdp=85674]Your Gadgets[/sdp] thread), I've been enjoying using 802.11n wireless network at home (sharing with Laurent for iTunes music library). Yesterday I noticed my wireless network was hacked as I received an email from iiNet notifying me that my download quota is low.
Here's the proof:
I use very little during this billing month, and between 29th and 31st July, the usage was out of portion.
On 30th, I bought 2 songs and 1 music video from iTunes Store, but the traffic on iTunes Store is free (iTunes and iiNet have some deals.) So taking away my usage (assuming 80MB per day, peak hours and 30 MB per day, off-peak), this hacker used 15694.79MB of my peak hour download quota and 11994.5MB off-peak quota.
Not long after receiving the notifying email, I switched off Wi-Fi, and the usage dropped dramatically.
So now, I have the network back on, the security is set to AES encryption on WPA2-Personal, with new network name (invisible) and new pass prase. The network was on WPA2-Personal before, but visible.
More detail at my blog entry.
