NC 4.8 not being promoted

Postby Wade » Sat 07 Sep, 2002 12:48 pm

Has anyone noticed how Browser Central doesn't even include a link to get communicator anymore? Seems like they really wanna bury Communicator now! :( I just took a survey and it asked what browser I was using and even IE was listed but no NC 4.8!

Well, it makes sense. The 4.x series is obsolete technology, so why push it at all? That would be akin to Microsoft urging people to install v4.01SP2 of IE instead of v6...hrm, bad analogy since IE is included, but you get my drift :).

The 4.8 release was (at least from what I hear) just a very minor patch release that was required for contractual reasons with some corporate partners.

Sillydog701 is the same as Archives. May be I do not understand what you mean. I am not sure if you mean the same product archive that I mean.

He was probably referring to the Netscape archives that Netscape itself keeps. They keep everything I think from version 2 forward available there.
