Need Help With Netscape 4.8 Messenger Email

Hello all. I am unable to access my Messenger email. When it loads, at startup, it gives me an error message box that says- - Netscape Navigator Application File Has Encountered A Problem, And Needs To Close---- This error occurs immediately after the email page loads, but it only loads 90%, and stops. It is not allowing new emails to download to my inbox either.
I use Windows XP Professional, and use both Explorer, and Netscape 7 Browsers, but you guys helped me install the 4.8 on this computer 2 years ago, when I got it, so I could keep using the Messenger for email.
Has something changed to make Messenger Email totally obsolete now? I have been having problems with this for several Months when trying to open Ebay Invoices, and Ebay user replies to my questions, but I worked around the errors on that, but now it gives the error upon opening, so nothing in email is accessable. My internet support help line is unable to help me. Seems they know very little about Netscape.

I even went into Explorer Tools, clicked on "Internet Options" and switched my email to Netscape 7, but it is still coming into Messenger, as it shows up by the clock, on my "Netscape Mail Notification" icon.

If you can help me, please keep in mind you need to use language I can understand, as I am very illeterate when it comes to computer termanology... Thanks much for any and all help.
