I have just converted from Netscape 4.7 to 7.1. I had Netscape 6.0 on my computer but uninstalled it [at least I hoped it did from the Windows program] before installing 7.1 from a CD. Then I tried to get my address book, bookmarks, and accumulated e-mail from 4.7 into 7.1, and it seems what I got was my bookmarks and address book from sometime in the past -- probably the time at year and a half ago that I originally installed 6.0 even though I did not put them into that program and never used it (I continued using 4.7 to present), and got none of my current e-mail still in 4.7 into 7.1. Subsequently I have managed to import my present 4.7 bookmarks into and on top of the ones which showed up in 7.1 when I installed it (the bookmarks from about a year and a half ago), but I can' t so far import my present 4.7 address book or accumulated 4.7 email to present into 7.1.

Can anyone help?

Uninstalling Netscape 6 (or any other version) does not delete the profile information (E-mail, bookmarks, etc.). An installation of Netscape 6 would have automatically picked up your Netscape 4.7 profile data. The Netscape 7 installation then probably picked up this old, outdated Netscape 6 profile and ignored your Netscape 4.7 profile.

I am not an expert (yet) at importing mail and stuff, so I would go with the uninstall route. This means that I would uninstall Netscape 7.1. Then I would find and delete the Netscape 7.1 profile and any Netcape 6 profile. Read the info at this SillyDog link to locate and delete all Netscape 6/7 data. (Of course, this is not a good idea if you need to save E-mail or bookmark data from the Netscape 7.1 data, although there are ways to save this data.) Now, you would re-install Netscape 7.1 and it should automatically import all the Netscape 4.7 info.
