Netscape 7.1/7.2 Personal Toolbar

Postby kenhawk67 » Tue 27 Jun, 2006 12:36 pm

I cannot view my individual BOOKMARK icons on my Personal Toolbar.

There is an individual BOOKMARK icon containing all my bookmarks but I cannot setup individual bookmark icons to appear.

By icons do you mean the small "favicons" which are seen on the URL (like the paw print of sillydog.org)? Or you do not see any "buttons" to click on snd open the website. It is very different, because the favicons may or may not be in the bookmarks, but the buttons should be there if a folder called Personal Bookmarks is selected from your bookmarks settings.

I do not see any "buttons" to click on to open an individual website.

All that appears on my Personal toolbar are:..Mail, Home, Radio,Search & Books (1 individual icon!)

Thx

You can remove any and all the buttons in the Personal Toolbar which was given to you. It has been such a long time since I had to do anything about it, that it just happens. In order to have a really personal toolbar, you can select any folder from your BookmarksManage Bookmarks, highlight it and select View|Personal Toolbar Folder. The folder which you selected will show up as your personal toolbar. Seamonkey is two generations younger than Netscape, but otherwise very much like Netscape7.x. I have a folder called Bookmarks for Seamonkey, and within it, I have a Personal Toolbar folder plus a number of individual bookmarks. If I highlight the Bookmarks for Seamonkey, and select View (from Manage Bookmarks), the Set as Personal Toolbar is grayed out, meaning that it is my choice. I did a test. I had folder called Netscape7.1 Tabs, something which I had carried over from the old days. If I highlight that Folder View|Set as Personal Toolbar folder is not grayed out, and if selected will show only the 7.1 tabs as a Personal Toolbar Folder.
I am using one large Personal Toolbar folder containing several subfolders, and they will should in the Personal Toolbar, along with a few individual bookmarks. My personal toolbar subfolders and individual folders have been rename, so I can fit 13 folders and 4 individual bookmarks, allowing me access to nearly 500 bookmarks.
I hope that you get the idea.

Your are certainly a persistent and patient person!

I've still no luck! I have the situation you mentioned whereas when VIEW is selected in BOOKMARKS MANAGER, the option SET AS PERSONAL TOOLBAR FOLDER is greyed out!

When I follow your suggestion about highlighting the folder in MANAGE, when I click on TOOLBARS, NOTHING HAPPENS!

Sorry to be such a pest but I sure would like to resolve this problem, if that's at all a possibility!

Thx....Ken

Ken,

Try this:

Step 1.
Click on: Bookmarks | Manage Bookmarks

In the Bookmark Manager, highlight any folder, it doesn't matter which one...
Click on: View
Select: Personal Toolbar

This will make whatever folder you selected, the Personal Toolbar

Step 2.
Click on: Bookmarks | Manage Bookmarks

In the Bookmark Manager, highlight your "Personal Toolbar"
Click on: View
Select: "Personal Toolbar"

This should restore your own Personal Toolbar tabs.
