netscape 7.2 e-mail

Postby lifepak007 » Tue 02 Sep, 2008 12:04 pm

Trying to get e-mail to the mailbox but write privileges and not allowed and etc. Have sent this before and kindly got a reply. However the solutions do not work. I can not find the folder ...\mail\pop.isp.net. Where is this located please? Thank you.

P.S. I have no MSF file extensions.

Antiquated e-mail program and an antiquated folder (DJGM has long since flown the coop, so to speak). If you insist upon using NS 7.2 for your e-mail (and a few still do) rather than upgrade to a modern equivalent (i.e. SeaMonkey or Thunderbird) then why not move your question to the Firefox,SeaMonkey,Netscape folder? I'm sure you will receive more helpful and abundant replies there.

Thanks but do not really understand what you mean!

I meant two things:

1. This folder in which you've placed your question is a very old folder that more or less has been discontinued. You would be further ahead if you placed your question in the top folder... the one marked: Firefox/SeaMonkey and Netscape. It is visited more often by the members of Sillydog 701.

2. Netscape 7.2 is old... very, very old by today's standards. While some still use it (essentially for the e-mail client) it is no longer updated. Most folks have abandoned it for either SeaMonkey (basically an updated Netscape without the AOL crap) or Thunderbird (a stand-alone e-mail client that will import your mail and settings from NS 7.2. In my humble opinion you would be better advised to transfer your mail and settings over to one of these. They are updated and far more users will be available to assist you in any problems you encounter.

1. Your Profile folder can be located by following the directions given here. Go to section 3.1. Note also the information concerning how to un-Hide the folder path.

2. You listed: "...\mail\pop.isp.net". This is a shorthand way of indicating that your mail is in a folder that is named the same as the definition of your mail server.
For example, my NS 7.2 mail is in the folder (I'm showing the complete path):
C:\Documents and Settings\Paul\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\default\xxxxxxxx.slt\Mail\pop.att.yahoo.com
[the above 2 lines are one long string]
where xxxxxxxx is a random 8-character string.
Unless you happen to be on AT&T, you should look for your ISP mail server's name instead of pop.att.yahoo.com. (And instead of "Paul" you will use your Windows logon (Desktop) name.)

3. You need not repeat (quote) the entire reply that you are given. But it is fine to include a particular sentence or fragment to draw one's attention to it - as I've done above.

To expand on what PaulD said, one can quote after clicking on the BBCode quick control bar.
Then click on Quote button, and enter what is being quoted, and finish by clicking the quote button. Like this:

. Otherwise, it appears that you are giving that answer. As I see the number 2. is the only indication of a quote
