Netscape 7.2 Mail

Postby thefillanator » Thu 09 Jun, 2005 8:57 pm

When I was running netscape version 7.1, I'm quite sure I was able to create a new address book entry (NEWLIST for a group of people) with all the addresses from the messages TO list automatically without having to type them in one at a time.

Now under 7.2 I don't seem to have that ability. Is there some quick way of getting a bunch of addresses in the TO of a message put into a group newlist in the address book?

Thanks.

I hope I understand what you are asking. That said, you can create a new address file using the address book and drag and drop the addresses to it from your personal address book. Once you have all the addresses permanentlly in the new file, using the address book, highlight all of them and then click on compose. All of the addresses will go to the "to" bar and you can write and send your email. I hope that helps.

Netscape 7.2 Email

Postby thefillanator » Fri 10 Jun, 2005 10:55 am

I'm not sure if I made my problem clear, so I'll try to clarify it a bit.

This is to create a NEW LIST (for a group of people) in the ADDRESS BOOK:

When I receive an Email and it's TO list address has a large group of people, somehow(forgot how now) under NESCAPE 7.1 I was able to create a NEW LIST entry from all the addresses in the TO list by getting Netscape 7.1 to automatically fill in all the email addresses and I just supply the name of the group.

Now under Netscape 7.2 It either doesn't have that ability, or I just forgot how to do it . I didn't use this feature very often, but I know I did.

Thanks for any assisstance

I don't remember if there was anything different in 7.1, but this is what I did, as a test, in 7.2 (I have two lists, and I don't need more that).
First of all I select New List from toolbar, in the Address Book, and give it a name, and make it a subfolder of one of the address books (I use seven AB).
Next, I drag and drop an address of choice from the list on the right to the newly named subfolder. In the address book, the drag and drop is actually copying the address and pasting it. For me, have adddress all over, it is the only way to get the work done, and the list is as chose it, and it beats typing the addresses any time.
I hope you get the idea.

thefillanator,

I can't imagine how you did that. I don't have 7.1 installed anymore, but in 7.2 there's no way I was able to copy the incoming addresses into a new list, other than doing it individually. The copy feature isn't available other than to copy the addresses one by one.

You can copy them all if you view the message source, but then you would still have to copy them individually to a new List?

If that was ever possible, and I believe you, then I've long ago forgotten how it was done...
