Netscape 7 freezes!?

Postby hispanic82023 » Mon 18 Nov, 2002 6:24 pm

I did a low level format/reinstall of WinXP last night. I insalled service pack 1 and all the goodies. The final app I tried installing is Netscape 7. It installs fine, but upon loading the browser, it will just stop responding.. and if i try to end task on it, it still doesn't want to close. I would have to restart the computer. I've tried uninstalling it, deleting netscape folder, and reinstalling with minimum options but it still freezes. However, netscape 6.2.3 installs and runs fine. Netscape 7 was working flawlessly prior to yesterday's fresh install of xp, so i don't get it. Is there any known software that may cause it to freeze or something.

This information is speculative since I do not have XP or this problem. People have reported some problems with installing NS7 after installing SP1 on XP systems. The most common problem is a failure to install. The solution to the install problem can be found at the link below:

You find a file named "ZLIB.DLL" and rename it to something like " ZLIB_DLL.OLD".

Perhaps (and only perhaps) you could rename this file and then do a Clean Install of Netscape 7 and see if it helps. This information comes with no warranty or guaranty.

Do you have two separate profiles for 6.2.3 and 7?
