Netscape 8.0 and 8.1

Postby steinmetz » Thu 22 Mar, 2007 3:29 pm

Currently I am running Netscape 7.2 and I am very please with it. I really like its looks and overall functions. I want to update to a newer version. So I installed (not updated) 8.0 to my desktop and I clicked on the icon to install Netscape 8.0 and it gave me an error message "My computer did not meet the requirements to install Netscape 8.0) Memory, Ram and CPU. I also received this message when trying to install 8.1 I basically stripped my computer down to the basics. (Removing programs) I am still getting this error message. I have no idea why. I uninstalled Netscape 7.2 and my only browser was Internet Explorer. My computer was if I had just bought it. Maybe 3 programs along with Microsoft XP and the normal programs, drivers and things of this nature. People tell me that I really dont want the newer version, due to the bugs and that overall 7.2 is better. But it is my mission now to find out what the heck is wrong. Could someone please help me :?

My advise to you is stay away from Netscape8 it has been a flop since it first came out. If you like the way Netscape 7 works you should try Seamonkey. Same as Netscape7 but upgraded. If you want to try something different try Firefox. Firefox is browser only no built in e mail.

If you want to read some sad stories head for this newsgroup. Then, wait for NS9 (also browser only) which should have fewer bugs, and due out soon.
