With the "native widgets" the classic theme looks
really cool in WindowsXP. I thnk it's time they made
a new look Modern theme for Mozilla and Netscape 7.

Modern theme v1: Netscape 6.0 PR1, Netscape 6.0 PR2

Modern theme v2: NS6.0 PR3, NS6.0 final, NS6.01

Modern theme v3: NS6.1 PR1, NS6.1 final, NS6.2.x NS7.0 PR1

Modern theme v4: ??? NS7.0 final ???

Also, now that the API's as been well and truly frozen, and that
older themes that were originally written for NS6.0 and Mozilla
milestones M18 to 0.9 like SkyPilot and Orbit are reappearing,
it'd be nice to see the older versions of the Modern theme
ported over to the newer current Mozilla and NS builds.

Mozilla Screengrabs.

Postby DJGM » Tue 25 Jun, 2002 6:47 am

Funny you should ask that, as I'm currently putting together
a compilation of screengrabs of Mozilla 1.0 running on four
different platforms... Win2K, MacOS9.2.2, Linux and BeOS.
As soon as I've worked out how to do screengrabs in BeOS,
and have safely copied the resulting images from BeOS over
to one of my Windows FAT32 partitions, I'll be able to build the
relevant pages to go with them all, I can post them @ Club NS.

I think SkyPilot is the most awesome skin for Netscape 7/Mozilla. I do have a screen shot here: http://home.att.net/~cherokee65/index5.html

Not the one you need though, Antony.

Both!!

I like both themes quite a lot actually. For people like me, Gray Modern, a very simple theme, looks quite nice in the Windows setting, and is a good compromise.

This poll is now closed.

The winner is . . . the "Modern" theme.
(In case you hadn't already noticed!)

Sticky

Postby Antony » Wed 10 Jul, 2002 8:02 pm

There are a few types of posts...
Normal,
Sticky,
Announment
(and also creating a poll.)

There is a detailed explaination in the FAQ section.

I guess I've disabled the Sticky postings in this subforum for all gegistered users. I can make the "General Area" subforum be able to post sticky posts, but don't abuse it. It is designed for "important" posts. (yeah, I know everyone wants to get attention for their posts.)

Modern

Postby Wade » Sat 13 Jul, 2002 1:45 am

Modern would look neat in silver.. kinda like they did with older modern in 6.0 cept using the new style of modern.

Try GrayModern at http://themes.mozdev.org/skins/graymodern.html .
At the moment it's the nearest you'll get to the old "Mozillium" theme.

I quite liked the way "Mozillium" would unintentionally merge itself with the
then "Modern" theme, when Netscape 6.x had dynamic theme switching.
The buttons from one theme would appear on the background of the
other. Occasionally, it looked a bit munged, but most of the time
it looked OK. I'm hoping that eventually the older themes from
the early (extremely buggy and crashy) days of Netscape 6.x
such as "Mozillium" and, like I said earlier in the thread, the
older versions of "Modern" will be ported to the newer
builds of both Mozilla and Netscape.
