Netscape communicator 4.7 and Adobe acrobat 6.0 Standard

Postby Sri » Fri 18 Jun, 2004 9:57 am

Hello,
With Netscape Comm 4.7, I am unable to open pdf files with Acrobat 6.0 Standard. Netscape actually crashes. Is it only with my browser and its settings and/or is there something I can do to rectify the problem?
Thanks!

Does anyone here know if Adobe Acrobat 6.0 plugs into Communicator? I thought it only plugged into MSIE and Netscape 6+.

It just uses a plugin, you could technically use Adobe Reader 6 with Netscape 3!

But are you sure that they'll integrate properly?

It should do, yeah. But I don't see why anyone would want to use Adobe Reader 6 with a browser that old.

If Adobe 5.0x worked, you could try downgrading your Adobe 6 down to version 5.0x. I use Adobe 5.0x with Mozilla (and communicator on one system) on all my systems, and see no good reason to move up to version 6.

The pdf plug-in file in Netscape 4.79's plug-in directory is "nppdf32.dll". Its the same file used for the Mozilla plug-in.
