Netscape Communicator 4.8

Has anyone who downloaded NS 4.8 noticed any fixes, improvements or benefits over NS 4.79 ? Are there any performance improvements particularly in the rendering of nested tables ? Also was cascading style sheets (CSS) handling improved ?

I think there were mostly security fixes. Active development of NS 4 stopped in 1998.

Indeed. Although development of the Netscape Communicator 4.x browser
series was effectively discontinued 4 years ago, there have been several
minor incremental updates made available since then. These have been
made available mainly for bugfixes, and also to fulfil certain corporate
contractual obligations that still exist. Eventually, there will be no more
updates for the Netscape 4.x series, and Netscape would now prefer
that most people download the latest version 7.x release instead.

There may well be at least one more, or probably a couple more updates
for the Netscape 4.x series, before it finally gets shelved indefinitely, but
you certainly won't see them advertised anywhere on the NS website!
