Netscape Composer

Postby lynda_77 » Mon 19 Sep, 2005 2:06 pm

I need to know if I can put an older version Netscape that includes the composer on a CD and use it to update pages that were built over 5 year period. Working actually from the CD or someway.

I have XP now with NS 8.0.3.3 and was told I couldn't have 2 versions on my one Directory hard-drive.

I desperately need use of the Composer - any ideas how I can do it?

How about trying the Nvu composer? It's based on Netscape 7.2's Composer and very good by sign.

Install as many versions as you want

Postby David Wonn » Mon 19 Sep, 2005 5:15 pm

You can have as many versions of Netscape installed as you like. Many of them can even be run simultaneously. I have dozens of versions installed on the same PC without any problems.

Multiple Netscapes

I tried the Nvu and it is the closest I have found to
the old composer. Thank you, I had not heard of this program.

I spoke with 2 people at HP and 1 at Netscape. They each were from the Tech. Dept. and told me that any version I added would overwrite the other one.

I believe it was because of the Windows XP program.

Thanks, guys

Multiple Netscapes

I run multiple versions of Netscape. You just have to make sure they install in different directories. When the installer runs, specify a new directory, like Netscape_versionnumber.

Thanks Cathy, I have the CD for the NS6 and if you and others are running 2 versions without conflict, it wouldn't
hurt to install seperately and try it. I can always remove the version 6.
