Netscape email 7 prints small fonts

Postby ten13 » Wed 02 Oct, 2002 9:31 am

I have downloaded NS 7, and while it does have some problems and differences from 4.76, etc., it ain't TOO bad. I do find it much faster loading up pages.

But one thing that I can't figure out is how to set the Default Font for the outgoing email in the Email Composition window. I'd like to set it for Times in the '+a' size, but it doesn't stay there.

I read in an old post that it may be next to impossible, but can it be done in one of the (many) pref.js files?

Thanks to all.....

Tried that "Template" thing, but that's only good if you're sending out the same or similar message time and time again.

There should be some way of doing it in one of the pref.js files, but I don't know which one...

Thanks anyway..... :!:

Did you try this:

You can also add something like this to your userContent.css file... (text file in your profile "chrome" directory).

Code: Select all
/* mailnews font size */
.moz-text-plain pre {
font-size: 11pt ! important;
font-family: arial ! important;
}

Well, I tried that code in the appropriate file in the appropriate directory, but still no good.

For some reason, I also can't get rid of the "Search" button on the toolbar, either from the Preferences, or from trying that usercontent.css file.

It seems that we're stuck with that dropdown menu to change the font, until they come up with a "patch" of some kind.

Thanks for your help.

(But I'm still open to other suggestions)

Hi ten13,

When we find that solution, we will make a lot of users out there very happy campers! :wink:

On your persistent Search Button, I can relate to your frustration. Antony finally helped me get rid of the darned thing.

In Prefereneces, enable (insert a tick) beside Search and Toolbar Search.
Close Netscape
Open Netscape

Disable (remove tick) for Search and Toolbar Search
Close Netscape
Open Netscape (keep fingers crossed)

If it doesn't work the first time, "Keep on truckin'" until it does work.

Post back and let us know.

Thanks for that tip on the Search button on the toolbar!

That one worked!

BTW---re: Email Fonts

By the way: I found that the Ctrl and the = button Ctrl-= combination used in the body of the email composer gives me a decent enough font for my purposes.

That, I guess, I'll have to live with.

Thanks again to all!
