Forgot to mention, "loathe" is the word they use.

As mentioned in this announcement, SillyDog701 received no help from Mozilla community, and in fact, Mozilla communities do not like SillyDog701, because SillyDog701 chose to focus on average end users, rather than computer geeks.

And I believe we should continue to focus on the end users of Netscape/Mozilla.

Yes. SillyDog701 should be commended for focusing on average end users because, simply put, THEY are the MAJORITY user of Netscape and the worldwideweb ever since the two were born. It is the average end user's experience with Netscape which mattered most to SillyDog701.

All in all, having SillyDog701 around made web browsing an exciting, enriching, satisfying and fruitful experience for me and everyone who ever used Netscape.

In the end, SillyDog701 will outlive any Netscape/Mozilla/Fire<whatever> forums there are right now. :D

I couldn't agree more. I've been using Netscape (and misusing it... :( ) for many years now. The one forum/message center I could always count on for assistance without the bitter, acid, smart-alec comments was SillyDog. Thanks to Antony and others who helped organize and provide the daily help to us "ordinary" folks. :)

If Netscape is indeed dead, what would happen if a person was to install the browser.xpi, mail.xpi, etc.. files into NS7.2 (if and when it comes out) from future Mozilla releases?

Netscape isn't really dead as such. So far, we don't know of AOL's future plans for the Netscape browser
suite beyond the forthcoming release of Netscape 7.2, such as whether any further updates will happen.

Even if AOL decide not to continue with the browser after v7.2, there will still be the [url=http://isp.netscape.com/]Netscape branded
internet service,[/url] plus the Netscape Network portal and services. Oh, and that toolbar for IE . . . !

(Here's hoping that Netscape 7.2 isn't left to stagnate like Netscape 7.1 was!)

At a guess, I would say, an unknown amount of incompatibilities and breakage . . . !

So you wouldn't be able to do something like SmartUpdate used to do with the XPI files?

AFAIK, a "smart update" feature is being implemented in Mozilla Firefox, but not in the App-Suite or Netscape.

From what I've read, this feature will be to ensure that extensions and add-ons are kept up to date when
new versions are released, so that older extensions don't cause Mozilla Firefox to crash and burn . . .

I heard somewhere on Mozilla.org that their intention was to have someone running FireFox as their Browser, Thunderbird as their mail client, etc. Are they trying to kill the Mozilla application suite or something?

SillyDog701 is not affiliated with Netscape Champion, Mozilla Champion, MozillaZine, or Mozilla.org.

In fact, SillyDog701 receives no supports from other popular core Netscape/Mozilla community.

Netscape will continue to play a roll in the network frame. If anything the internet will suffer badly if NS went under.
