I thought Netscape Security Solutions had been around for awhile now.

Does AOL still use Netscape's building then?

I know they shut the company down, but I guess AOL builds their portal now [how do people even find it w/o the netscape isp?]...

Are their server solutions still being actively developed? They wasted so much on Netscape when they could of kept it around as a browser and other services if they wanted to.

I wonder if AOL never bought them, where they would be now.

Not exactly sure, AOL still owns the "Netscape" brand name.
It was said that the old Netscape office space were donated to Mozilla Foundations. I have no insider information.

They've never shut the company down. They only stopped the development of Netscape browsers. Netscape Networks have been working well still, a great portal page.

This thread, "Netscape is Dead", is started by one of the Mozilla die-hard supporter (and loathe Netscape) from Mozilla Zine. He couldn't help not to bash Netscape any less.

In my opinion, Netscape Communications (company) might have been dead completely. I don't think Netscape Communications had enough resource and money to fight against the software giant Microsoft?

Hi All:
Yes, it's me....lol
I picked up a magazine in an Office Supply store, it's called Bureau en Gros where I live. Anyway, inside there is a tear out which says;

Frustrated by slow page downloads when you surf the web?

To join or learn more visit:

join.netscape.ca or call 1-866-NETSCAPE (1-866-638-7227)

Then it has the N Icon (it is round, with a white N and green and black shaded background)
Netscape Online
Accelerated Internet Service
NT-SOHO

Open it up and it says,
Affordable, Portable high speed
surf the WEb up to 5X faster
on any regular phone line - Then to Join now or learn more visit:
join.netscape.ca
Then your certificate number is: 152xxxx
Netscape Online
Accelerated Internet service

Then they have Portable HIGH SPEED Unlimited $18.95 per month

What do I get with the Netscape Online Service?
Accelerated WEb access over any regular phone line.
Free Pop-up Blocker
Automatic e-mail spam filtering
Local access across Canada
Free 24/7 customer support
No new cables or hardware to install
No high-priced business rates

It's quite a nice little pull out. I didn't know they had it in Canada.
I am on Cable but I keep thinking it is too expensive for the things
I use it for. Just thought I would let you know, that Netscape isn't dead yet.
I didn't phone, but perhaps I will.
I just called, and yes, they seem to have someone working there.
Press 1 etc... lol it has the usual if you would like to register etc., and later ending with, for problems with Netscape browser to call 1-800-487-0707 I think I got the number right, perhaps not tho.....sorry

Just thought somebody might be interested.

IT Doesn't work in my area
I went on the http://join.netscape.ca
site and put in my area, then a tel. # appeared and I called. Just a lot of ringing and nothing but noisy static...

Hi Lorraine

Well... if it is anything like Pacifier's Accelerated dial-up service, it really isn't worth the money. I tried theirs for free for a few days and what I found was, in order to render the pages quickly and "make you think" or give you the illusion that the pages were appearing as though by high-speed, they compromise on graphics. You can crank up the speed or slow it down depending upon how many pixels you'll tolerate in your graphics. Since I like clear images... sharp images... I simply dumped it. But for those who don't care that much, it might be a cheap man's high speed, relatively speaking.
