I've seen in some newsgroup postings, people are still using @netscape.net e-mail addresses, so it must still work for those people. I used mine right up to the end, so I have no idea why it ceased to work back then. It ended up being converted to aim.com, until I learned aol.com also worked.

I had not used the old Netscape address for years, but, as a test, I did a search for netscape.net mail. When I clicked on that, I got a netscape.aol.com page, obviously a news/webmail place. I clicked on Mail, and saw my old netscape.net username/password. I selected that, I fond a single e-mail. A greeting from aol.com. The netscape.net mail uses, now, the old netscape.net username/password, but the server has changed. So, should one want to get to that mail, it is, now, netscape.netusername@aol.com.
I was able to set up that account, very easily, similarly to my other, original, aol.com,as an IMAP account. I have been using my default e-mail address, as smtp. So,, I have, now, two AOL accounts, hardly ever used.

Very interesting, Fulvio. I followed your steps and low and behold, my old netscape.aol mail account was recovered. Frankly I had not used that in years but there it was. Not sure I'll actually use it but who knows.

thanks Fulvio.

I followed your steps. It worked, so of.

It seems like the @netscape.net was actually an alias (login) for the matching @aim.com login. At least in my case.
It has all the emails (and junk emails) that were delivered to @aim.com. For my curious part, I tried to send an email to @netscape.net, and it was rejected.

My old @netscape.net email was disabled sometime in 2006.

My old @netscape.net email was disabled sometime in 2006.

Seems to be about right. At one time, I was using my netscape.net for everything which was of little importance.
My original ISP was AOL, but I went to Cox very quickly. My AOL address became a receptable of Spam, and I gave it up. So, netscape.net because the new Spam "provider". I will, occasionable used the new aol.com address, and, see how long it will take to get junked. It could have changed to aim.com, but I, never, used IM.
