Hey John-

I thought of that; but I am now at the point where I am not at all hindered. Both Win 7 machines sees everything, and one Vista machine, really my nerve center, sees everything. I may take one more stab at the other Vista machine; but it is my work machine. i cannot screw it up. I own it; but every night when I leave work, I have the whole corporation in my computer bag. That is good job security.

Good luck in school. Well, some people need luck, I think you just have the goods.

Richard-

Make sure the workgroup is the same. Down to the capitalization.

I know all of my computers (including the linux boxes with Samba) and on the MATRIX or CITRUS, and accordingly named.

0. Yes, I know this is an old thread. Have you found a solution yet?
1. Homegroup is new in Windows 7. All computers in a Homegroup must be Win7. So for a mixed Windows network one must use a Workgoup. (Unless one is in a Domain, which you aren't.)
2. I don't believe that the case (upper/lower) of the workgroup name is significant, based upon XP experience. (In XP, all letters are converted to upper case anyway. I don't have Vista or 7 available right now to test with.)
3. About 4/5 of the way down an exhaustive Microsoft article, File and Printer Sharing in Windows Vista, is the topic Common Questions with Windows Vista File and Printer Sharing. Also see the index of topics at the top of the page.
4. You're right - it should work. As you'll recall, sometimes it is necessary to humor Windows a bit by resetting options (turning them off), and then setting them again. This can clear recalcitrant Registry values. An intervening Restart may be insurance.

PaulD- At the moment, I am happy. Not every machine sees every machine; but I can get to everything from one of my Win 7 machines. I am going to look at the link you included in your message.
