Arstechnica has offered an explanation why Apple chose not to using the latest Intel Core i3 or i5 CPU on the 13-inch MacBook Pro.

During 20th October 2010's 'Back to Mac' special event, Apple has quietly offered another configuration for 15-inch and 17-inch MacBook Pro models. New 2.8GHz Core i7 processor available as build-to-order option (i.e. customised version).

Previously, the maximum speed for MacBook Pro was 2.66GHz Core i7 processor.
