new Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Special Edition with 256MB VRAM

Postby Antony » Wed 09 Jun, 2004 10:46 am

ATI announced it is shipping its RADEON 9800 PRO Mac Special Edition, featuring 256MB and 680 MHz data rate and a core engine speed of 380 MHz.

This card is available as customised option in all new PowerMac G5s (dual 1.8, dual 2, dual 2.5 models).
But with a cost of adjacent PCI or PCI-X slot, due to it's physical size.

It's a bit dissapointing that Apple didn't use the Radeon X800 XT - a card that is twice as fast as the 9800 XT in some tests.
