NM 4.75 suppress faulty addresses in address list

Postby Steff » Thu 12 Aug, 2004 2:50 am

Is there a way to suppress any faulty addresses in an address list so that the remaining correct addresses still receive mail?

The scenario:
A very long address list with an incorrect email address (but which one?). On sending a message using the list, an error saying incorrect or unroutable address and none of the addresee's receives that mail message. (Have tested by adding my own address to the list)

Is there anything that I can do to either discover which is the unroutable address or at least still allow the other addresee's to get the message?
Thanks
S

Not exactly sure what you are talking about.

Do you just get an email bounced back?

Is the recipient's email address listed in the [tt]to:[/tt] or [tt]cc:[/tt] or [tt]bcc:[/tt] field?

Most likely, only one (or a few) of the recipient(s)' server decided to block the mass mailing (considered as spam).

I am not too sure of the detail as to the to: or cc: fields or the bounce as the call came via another consultant to me.
Three years ago, before switching to NM, we used an old version of Pmail, which allowed us to precede any address list with code which would allow correct address entries in a list not to be held up by incorrect entries. It appears that NM isn't allowing the same type of thing. If there is even one incorrect address entry then it simply doesn't send the mail to anyone in the address list. I'll see if I can get my hands on the actual list that the user has.
Thanks for your help though!
