I also am on sbcglobal. net, but switched from a dial-up-only ISP, so there was a fresh start.
You used to be on Prodigy, correct? Did you completely switch over from Prodigy to Sbcglobal? And notify your email correspondents?
It is not crystal clear to me if you are attempting to get to your ATT/SBC account (annettehelmbold [at] sbcglobal.net), or if you've at all checked [your-name at] yahoo.com.
1. The sequence below
may be of some help.
I put in

Click on Residential, which brings up

http://www.att.com/gen/landing-pages?pid=3310 .
Click on Customer Support; brings up [above, but] pid=3312.
Click on Residential Customer Support, which brings up

http://www.att.com/gen/general?pid=5395 .
Clicking on "Internet Support .. High-speed Internet support" leads to
-
http://helpme.att.net/ . (This one is probably worth bookmarking.)
Right side, under Web Mail, line 5: "POP Access & Forwarding", brings up the first of 7 pages with 89 articles. Go to article 42 (page 5)

"How do I manually transfer ... Prodigy ... ", which is

Or, some other topic may be worth reviewing.
2. Can you have someone else send you a Test email to both your Sbcglobal and Prodigy addresses? What error results?
3. By any chance was there some change made to your account profile? You've reset your Netscape settings; have you double-checked the settings on (your-name at sbcglobal.yahoo.com)? (The proliferation of corporate mergers has left a confusing collection of ISP access requirements. "The NEW ATT" has a whole bunch 'absorbees'.)
4. Are you using a sub-account for emails, or your main account? We defined sub-accounts specifically for emails (although we use Thunderbird primarily), and check the main address only infrequently for any SBC/ATT message. (And see Note 2, below.)
5. If it is (only) a sub-account that is bollixed up you may have to abandon it and set up a new sub account. You may be able to set up a Forward from [this old] account to a new one.
Note 1: (Aside to Fulvio: mail2web.com is correct. It is another web browser. When we were getting much spam (on one old dial-up account) we used mail2web to preview the Senders and Subjects without cluttering up our 'real' email Inbox. This use also precluded most malicious downloads when they were more prevalent.)
Note 2: Having written this - "infrequently" - I just did a check and found a message dated March 13. Reading through the fluff, it says that not everything works on Vista. Specifically, "Though other applications, including AT&T Yahoo! Online Protection Suite, will be temporarily disabled if you choose to install the Vista operating system, ...."
