Remember the popular WordPerfect back in the 80s or early 90s (if you are old enough like Antony)?

Not long after the release of Windows 95, almost everybody uses Word instead. Novell, the then owner of WordPerfect, filed an antitrust complaint against Microsoft in 2004. Novell alleged Microsoft abused its market lead by changing code that broke WordPerfect's Windows 95 support, and Microsoft led Novell to believe WordPerfect could run on Windows 95 without much work. Novell argued that changing the code not only locked WordPerfect out during a crucial period (Windows 95's launching) but also damaged WordPerfect's market share from near 50% to under 10%. (Then Novell sold WordPerfect to Corel at a $1.2 billion loss.)

Judge J. Frederick Motz on Friday dismissed this longstanding lawsuit. Jurors said they were "hopelessly deadlocked" and didn't see any extensions of deliberations solving the problem.

Hmmm... and here all this time I thought that Corel owned Word Perfect.

I was the same. Only until few days ago when I was hunting for some software that can read Laurent's age-old WordPerfect documents, I looked up Wikipedia.

BTW, Corel WordPerfect for Mac was free, however, the latest Mac version was 3.5e and made in 1997. And you will need Classic Mac (running Mac OS up to 9.22). Good thing that I recently acquired a few old Macs.
