I have two scroll mice, with three buttons. The middle button scrolls as requested, but autoscroll does not work in any of the new Mozilla-based program. The only difference between the Microsoft and my GE mouse is that the former does not recognize that there was any command, while the GE shows the auto-scroll thingy, and I can move the arrow in any direction, but nothing else happens.

First: My general experience is that Netscape 7 gives back many of the features I missed in Netscape 6. However, not to be able to turn off the inline view of attachments, irritates both me and many of my colleges. Is there a way around this? I've been through the startup prefs files, and found one line in mailnews.js: pref("mail.inline_attachments", false);
But it didn't work.
Does anyone have the answer??

I still use NS 4.79 for email.... I can't get NS7 or Beonex to open to my inbox, no matter what I do.

NS7/beonex browser is fast and generally runs smoothly. I use Beonex exclusively now because I like the advanced privacy controls, like the faked HTTP referrer, among other tweaks. I hope NS 7.01 streamline can incorporate the Beonex privacy philosophy.

But NS7 needs some polish.... like having it recognize our mouse wheels, being able to select the default mail box to open to, incorporate a link to Netscape Calendar in the window drop down menu (for those of us who still use it). I'm sure I left out a few items, but it's late..... I'll post again if I have something to add.

Short answer, you can't turn off inline display.

Just to add another problem I noticed with Netscape 7.0 Mail (newsgroup in fact).
The problem, the threaded view does not work everytime. When it fails to work, if you close the thread (instead of keeping it expanced), it won't close nicely, and left a ghost lists.
(sometimes the change of status does not show up correctly.)

I have this problem when in snews://secnews.netscape.com:563/ (please note it is a secured newsgroup), however I am not sure if it also occur in other newsgroups.

I have noted that from time to time the Toolbar Icons become corrupt. All the buttons work, but they become narrow lines...

Only issue I've seen with the newsreader is that on some threads (both on Netscape's server and my ISP's) where the underlined subject would indicate there are unread messages in that thread, there aren't any.

It's only sporadic, some will show an underlined without any unread msgs, and others will correctly not be underlined.

Overall, I really like Netscape 7.0. It certainly is a lot better than Netscape 6.0. However, one thing that I had with Netscape 4.79 is a prompt when I closed Netscape that asked whether I wanted to close my dial-up connection or not. Apparently, Netscape 6 and now 7 do not have this feature. WHY?

I asked my ISP about the dial-up shutdown a long time ago. I was given the impression that this shutdown of the connection was an "add-on" feature added by the ISP (perhaps in the CCK process?). The gentleman talking to me added that he found this feature annoying, so I guess it depends on how you look at it.

In any case, many people do not want such a shutdown of the connection since they may do more than browse during a session.

Well, my response to that is that Internet Explorer still offers this feature via the Auto Disconnect dialog which you can disable if you don't like it. I realize that you can disconnect by right clicking on the icon in the systray but I still think that there should be a dialog box.

That happened to me back in Netscape 6, but haven't had it since in Netscape 7.
I would guess the cache file has been damaged, and my method to fix it is Context Click | View Image | reload | back
