NS 7.1 and CCK version 7.0x

Postby profman » Mon 30 Jun, 2003 11:15 pm

An initial alpha build of my Slim version, using the old CCK, has, so far, failed to carry out naming customizations (the "profman" label) within the NS 7.1 browser, failed to customized the home URL, and failed to change the URL for the throbber. The User Agent was also not altered. I saw an error message or two flash by during the completion of the customization complitation process.

Bookmarks and the Personal Toolbar changes were fine. No functional problems in the browser itself were evident upon the first brief runs. Mail, NIM, and Composer were not checked out.

I too have found similar problems, while I've been testing the NSCCK7.0 app with the new
official builds of Netscape 7.1. I've found that the (ax) addition to the UA string is added
from the activex.js file, which can be found in the /bin/defaults/pref/ directory within the
uncompressed browser.xpi archive file when it is opened with WinRAR. After attempting
to change the (ax) to (DJGM-i.net), and replacing the original activex.js file with the
editied version in the uncompresed browser.xpi archive file, this test build of NS7.1
will not start after installation is done, or even when the desktop icon is clicked.

I'm currently trying to re-work this, and continuing the tests, but it seems as though we'll
have to wait until the new Netscape Client Customisation Kit for NS7.1 is released before
we start work on our new custom builds of NS7.1. Here's hoping it isn't too long a wait!

SeaMonkey = Swiss Army Knife: It's versatile, reliable, and contains useful tools.
Windows Internet Explorer = Old Swiss Cheese: Full of holes, and it stinks!
