NS4.x and multiple accounts

Postby jparsons » Sun 02 Mar, 2003 5:54 pm

Does anyone know of any extensions or plug-ins or anything that would enable someone using Netscape Communicator 4 to make use of multiple pop accounts? Besides using different profiles.

I suspect I know what the answer is, but I figure if such a thing exists, I'll find out here.

Thanks

I am not aware of any add-ons that will provide for multiple accounts within one profile in Netscape Communicator (versions 4.xx).

Netscape 7.xx allows multiple accounts within one profile.

This is why NS7 is superior to 4.x. 4.x can have multiple IMAP accounts, but how many can you get?

I'd like to think it's not the only reason...

As for the original question, I do not know of any way to make 4.x work with multiple POP accounts, aside from multiple profiles.

I don't see that I implied that NS7 for only that reason. As for mail, NS7 has proven more troublesome than 4.x. That's why I recommend newbies that they keep 4.7. For mail, before they freak out.
May be, I should have qualified my statement about the superiority of NS 7.x
so I will take that back.

OK, let me try a different approach.

Through the judicious use of email forwarding from one account to another and the use of filters, I can have virtual incoming multiple accounts in NS4.

Does anyone know of a utility that would allow me to assign a particular email address or alias on outgoing email messages so I don't have to go in and redo my email address every time I send a message?
