Opera 7.52 Improvements

Postby Jeffredo » Wed 07 Jul, 2004 7:49 am

In addition to the security fix the changlog states "various stability and rendering improvements". I definitely notice a speed increase, especially with sites with lots of graphics that used to slow it down. It may dull my enthusiam for Netscape 7.2 at this rate!

Any Opera was faster than any Netscape or Mozilla.

Actually, I tested Firebird 0.7 through Firefox 0.9.1 against current Opera releases with www.numion.com/Stopwatch/ and it was neck and neck. Firefox 0.9 usually beat Opera 7.51. I haven't tested the newest versions of both yet, but I think Opera might have the advantage now.

7.52 runs faster on Windows 98SE. I haven't tried it on XP Home yet, but on one of my Linux boxes (the faster of the two), it is running faster than 7.51.

The real Linux test will be on the Pentium 166 MHz box with the 98 Mb of RAM. :D

How about... 98SE with Pentium (non-MMX) at 120MHz with 80MB of RAM compared to Firebird 0.7 and K-Meleon 0.8.2?

I don't have such a system. The system that has 98SE on it has a 600 MHz AMD Athlon in it.
