Opera cookies for this forum

Postby Anonymosity » Mon 14 Jun, 2010 2:47 am

Why is it that even though I set Opera to keep cookies, and am allowing this forum to set cookies, I have to log in here with Opera every time? I do not see this happening with Firefox. Is there anything unusual about Opera cookies that this server does not use?

We have just upgraded the forum software, this may be why.

Did you set the forum to remember your login?

Yes, I did check the box. Does the server respond differently to different browser request headers, or do different browsers respond differently to the server?

To best of my knowledge, the server does not send different cookies to different browser.
This forum remembers my login in Firefox and Safari. I haven't been using Opera often.

Cookies or not, and set to remember or not, this site requires, usually, but not always, some action from me.
Most of the browsers I use, are Firefox, and the username and password are there, with a check mark. But, I, generally, have to click on the button to be right in. I have accepted this as a fact of life, but will try to see which browser lets me in, and which one does.
As an aside, Sillydog is not so bad. WindowsBBS is quite strange. I have to clean up the space where the username goes, and add one letter at a time. 9 times out of ten, the first letter of the username is enough to bring in the entire username, and after selecting it, the password comes up, and I am in. With one browser, there is a slight delay, and, as soon as I enter the first letter of the username name, the entire username plus that letter comes up, plus the password. In order to get in, I must remove the extra letter. Nuisances!

Not sure why I was notified about this thread in email today, but the cookie problem with Opera fixed itself. Maybe the newer version works better with cookies.
