OUCH! Microsoft faces US$2,000,000,000,000 fine!

Thanks to a major league security **** up on the Microsoft Passport system, that exposed the
passwords of it's 200 million users, the US Federal trade Commission may be about to whack
the Beast of Redmond with a fine of US$11,000 for each user of the MS Passport service,
and that adds up to an astronomical fine of US$2.2 trillion. Get out of this one Bill G!

I hope it's more than 50bn! Since MS is sitting on about 40bn that would really cripple them.

Bear in mind that this mammoth fine has not yet been imposed yet. The chances are that
since Microsoft have since fixed the aforementioned security hole, the fine might not even
imposed at all. Such an astronomically huge financial penalty, that comes to something
like about four times more than MS is worth, and could essentially force Microsoft to go
the same way as Enron! How would this have an impact the world of computing and
the internet, if such a huge fine like this were to put MS out of business altogether?

Real companies like Redhat, Apple Computer, Sun, Novell, SuSE, Mandrakesoft etc would gain heaps of revenue :) We wouldn't want to see MS go out of buisness altogether, but lets say $2bn more than Microsoft has in cash as the fine. That'd be perfect!

I was able to uninstall Windows Media Player 9, it changed WMP back to version 6, but it is no longer listed under Add/Remove Programs (in Windows ninety-eight).

Apparently, placing the number 98 in parentheses results in the Cool emoticon displaying.

You can remove any upgrades to the browser and Media Player, but the versions of the media player/browser that came with the OS cannot be officially removed.
