Outlook 2000. MAPI types created in email accounts folder

Postby d5post » Sun 21 Mar, 2004 2:17 am

My outlook 2000 sometimes creates something called a mapi in my email accounts folder where normally my pop/smtp account information is stored. The two names of the two MAPI's created are called "Outlook Address Book" and "Personal Folders". When they are created they remove two valid email account I have with my ISP. When I reinput the email account info, it does not show up in the send and recieve function. Now the "Outlook Address Book" MAPI is my "default mail account" and I cant change it. Last time I tried to delete one or both of these files I lost everything and had to reinstall. HELP! Why is this happening? How can I safely get rid of thiese nasty things? Is this suppose to happen automatically?

I noticed the folders, for the first time, in AOL Communicator, which an external thing (to AOL) allowing AOL users to access their non-AOL mail. It was supposed to be an answer to Outlook/Outlook Express, and is based, loosely on Netscape6/7 mail. Look at your preferences|Mail and News
and you will see that there a box: "use Netscape Messanger with MAPI applications" . Is it checked? I don't have Outlook, and thus a MAPI app. so, it is not likely to affect me. But, I reall don't know.
