phpBB forums and names

I noticed that you could provide your real name in SD701, but there was no space for that on my forum. Can someone tell me how to add this feature?

It was a MOD (modification) partially from phpBB.com and partially that I added myself. According to my record, the Real Name was added in August 2002. I can't remember the exact detail on that particular MOD.

I can help you find that MOD, if you want.

SillyDog701 Message Centre is proud not to be a plain vanilla out of the box, or just some simple MODs added. There are plenty of small modifications that I added myself, not from other sources.

if you could help me find that mod i would be happy. My Forum has been edited a little since I created it, as you can see with the title, but not much else. Eventually I would like to make the forum have its own theme like SD701 but I don't know HTML, much less PHP and CSS.

Firstly, for links to be working in SillyDog701, it must started with [tt]http://[/tt].

As for adding the Real Name mod, I would like to tell you that any mods should be added with caution, and many mods require server access, usually [tt]SSH[/tt] access is required, and it would be better if you know [tt]PHP[/tt] server scripting language and database (usually [tt]MySQL[/tt]).

I do not have SSH or shell access. I tried adding a different Mod last night but I completely killed phpBB, but atleast i saved the database before attempting it.

From the "Welcome to phpBB 2 Installation" screen,
You should be able to install it straight forward if you have all the necessary information.
Including the database type, database name, database username, database user password, and the path information.

Then, just add those information together with your password into the form it should work.

If you do not have shell access, I am afraid that I don't know how you can create a new table in database.
