Pop up preview by rolling over subject...

Postby lilac0422 » Fri 07 Mar, 2008 1:51 pm

I cannot get this feature to work in the newest Netscape. What am I doing wrong? With my other Netscape and IE, I can put my mouse over the subject on a message board and a little preview of the first few lines pops up. Where is this feature...I must have it!!

Which other Netscape? And, which IE? And, which message board?
You are using NS7.2 now, so it is either the older 4.x, or the never Navigator9.0.0.6. I, no longer have NS7.2. I have Navigator9.0.0.6, IE7, and a bunch of other browsers. I don't see anything which you describe with this Message board. It is another message board, please tell us.

Welcome to SillyDog, Lilac!

I believe this is a feature of a web site, not Netscape.

Go to Ask.com and search for something. For each search result, there will be a binoculars icon to the left of each of the results.

Put the mouse pointer on the binoculars and a small image of that particular web site will appear.

Interesting, but at ask.com, when I typed a couple of items, I got a drop down with suggestions. I have a feeling that the appearance of what you look for will change, but I agree about the website properties. I, never saw a summary or whatever at any message boards which I visited. Also, do you have to login to be able to see this?

No login needed. Simply type in what you are searching for (e.g. SillyDog) and click the Search icon.

Mouse over the binoculars and you will see a small image of that particular web site.

I got faked out by the drop down selection list, a very convenient pre-Search. There was no selection for Sillydog, so I had to click on the search button, and saw the binoculars, not very useful, if I may say, to have an illegible preview of of the page.
Is this what lilac0422 wants beats me.

If enough people search for SillyDog at ask.com, I'm sure there will be a selection at some point. :)
