Problem logging on to web site through Netscape Navigator

Postby chellenz » Mon 05 Jul, 2004 10:40 pm

I have created a web site that has a member log in area. It uses asp and an access database to recognise registered users. It works fine through internet explorer but not Netscape based browsers.
Does anyone have any ideas on what I should be differently?

My guess is that Communicator is just too old to work anymore... I used Communicator 4.8 recently on an old PC.. It didn't seem to work all that well. If you want my opinion, you should probably go for the latest Mozilla release, currently Mozilla 1.7.

Did you use Front Page to create the website? No Netscape or Mozilla program can handle some websites created by Front Page. There may be some small difference, but the the site creator will not be completely compliant. You should expect that IE would access some partly non-compliant site.
If anything, it may work with Netscape4.8 or earlier. Did you try it?

No, I used Dreamweaver to create the page and then asp using VBScript to create the back end scripting.
I have not tried Netscape4.8 - the customers accessing the site are mostly using the latest version of Netscape (7.1).
