Program to Recreate 4.7 Mail .snm Files

Postby 4DD » Thu 05 Oct, 2006 6:30 pm

Is there a program or a netscape.exe command line switch that will go and recreate the summary files? The problem is that folders need to be accessed to rebuild the summary files. I would like these summary files to be recreated by a program instead. Any suggest would be appreciated.

Not that I've known of.

When you say "recreate the summary file", do you mean the summary file for current profile? Or for a new profile?

I discover that Compact Folders works for the current profile. I'm trying to migrate Thunderbird mail into Outlook and am testing using Outlook Express as the middleware. So I want to take a user's mail folders and create the Netscape Mail's .snm files (since that's what OE uses to recognize the folders). From there, import the OE folders into Outlook.

If thre is a utility or running netscape.exe with some switches that would allow me to create these .snm files without moving data around or installing Netscape all the PCs, it would be great.
