purchase mac osx tiger for ibook help!

Postby saralara » Sat 15 Dec, 2007 8:21 am

I have just bought a Classic Ipod for my husband and gave him my IBOOK G3 (not clamshell) to use with it. But it just tells me that the ipod needs Mac OSX 10.4 and i only have mac OSX 10.3 - panther! How do i get hold of Tiger for my ibook, it has been upgraded with new memory so it should be able to cope but I cant find it anywhere as now leopard is out. I dont want leopard as i am afraid that will really slow down my lovely little IBOOK. Please can someone help, I just presumed an ipod would work on any computer and i certainly didnt realise i had to buy a new computer to make my IPOD work!!

thanks

p.s i am in uk if that makes any difference

Actually, Leopard won't even run on a G3, a G4 is the minimum requirement.

You will need to find Panther in CD-ROM. (Apple released CD-ROM version under Media Exchange). There should be some in eBay.

But did they release Tiger on CDs? That's what she's after. If not, you might need an external USB or FireWire DVD drive.
