Shouldn't you mention what purple heart is?

Also, do NOT cross-post.

The Purple Heart is awarded for uncommon valor and bravery; putting one's self in harm's way despite the risks for the good of his country and countrymen.
Pat Tillman voluntarily denied a very lucrative salary to continue playing professional football and instead volunteered for our Ranger Batallion in effort to thwart the threat of terror to all of our world and to try and bring sanity to the country of Iraq. He lost his life in that effort.

Purple Heart. His family lost a good son and we all lost a good friend but he'd want us to continue.

Correction: Afcrapistan. I posted this before the details had been released. I'm sure the residents of Afcrapistan are equally as grateful as Iraq however for our efforts and sacrifice.

I believe Pat Tillman was a "SHE"
So many men and women gave up their families and friends..I don't see the difference. So she gave up money for her life.
The others probably gave up for less money, but they still have mothers, wives and children. Some just family and friends.
Give them all a Purple Heart.

This is just a post for clarification.

One article with details about this story is:

Details Released on Pat Tillman's Combat Death

The football player who traded the gridiron for the battlefield died after being ambushed by enemy forces in Afghanistan.

There is no doubt that Pat Tillman was a male football player who has ended up dying in Afghanistan. He gave up a career in the NFL to become an Army Ranger.

Yes, and some reports have him serving in Iraq, not Afghanistan.

Evidently, he decided to join the miltary after watching the 9/11 attacks and did not talk much to others about why he made that decision.

I couldn't agree more; I didn't want to stand on a soapbox here necessarily and bring politics into Silly Dog. As the rest of you, I'm human and this story particularly moved me/struck a chord.
In a time where real stand up people are not as common as they once were in a different era I found it inspiring. Surely, every single one of our troops are risking their lives VOLUNTARILY and there will surely not be as many Purple Hearts pinned as there should be and there are so many enlisted of the same caliber as a Pat Tillman, he just happened to have some noteriety. It's my hope that they are all able to watch each other's back, do their jobs, and come home walking and talking.

That's pretty much all I have to say on the topic.
