Redmond, start your photocopiers

Last June, in Apple's WWDC 2004 (Worldwide Developers Conference), Apple introduced Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger". One of the noticeable banner is “Redmond, start your photocopiersâ€

You know I'll be the first one on line to complain about Windows and PC's. My wife's new favorite phrase since we switched from PC to Mac is, "Long live Steve Jobs."

However, whatever Microsoft has yet to do in terms of their OS they've made up for in their Game System. I love the original XBox and I'm sure he second will be great. I had a nightmare of a time with Sony's Playstation 2. But, the XBox, a solid product that has run flawlessly since day 1. Having the XBox run so well kept me from switching to gaming on my Home Computer and kept me gaming on dedicated gaming systems. Ironically, meaning the lack of games for Macs was never a factor in making the switch.

In other words, because Microsoft made the XBox so well. I couldn't find a single good reason not to buy an Apple Computer.

Microsoft XBox is a really good product.

I had a feeling that Microsoft's XBox move was pretty much similar to Apple's iPod. XBox is not really Windows related, and Apple's iPod is just a portable music player, nothing to do with Mac operating system.

Well, I [sdp=1503]bought an XBox[/sdp] back in 2002. It was a great machine. The sound and graphic were much better than Sony's PlayStation2. The only problem... I don't really play video games. (It was a waste of money.)

My XBox and games are currently in my friends place. She's taking a good care of them :-)

The Xbox is missing from my gaming lineup.

I have a Sony PS2 and a Nintendo Gamecube. The PS2's graphics are okay; I've noticed that sometimes the graphics of scripted scences will tend to 'shake'. First you'll begin to see the edges of the polygons either distort or pixelate, and then the video will start to get slightly shaky. I use GameCube solely for the purpose of Zelda and SoulCalibur II. I'm not counting the stupid cel-shaded Zelda, but the emulated versions of the earlier N64 games will run sort-of-okay. The music will often not sync to what's happening, and occasionally the games will freeze, unfreeze, freeze, unfreeze, and repeat such a pattern. In SoulCalibur II, either NAMCO's knowledge or the GameCube's video processor kicks in properly. Instead of pixelating like the PS2, polygons will blur out. I've noticed, though, that smaller polygons like sparks or embers will render better on GameCube than they will on PS2.

I used to have an N64, but my cousins decided that it was theirs. The polygons on it would, like the PS2, pixelate. Right now, I use an N64 emulator on my PC, and the graphics on it do the same, so I'm guessing it's the N64's nature to do this.

Judging by the nature of the SNES and NES emulators I have, I'm guessing it was their nature to 'flicker' when they couldn't accurately display what they should (I can't say 'polygons' because they used sprites and not polygons).

I own an XBOX and love the graphics. The only problem is I only have 2 games. These consist of Need for Speed Underground and Crimson Skies High Road to Revenge (free with XBOX live). Still I cant wait until XBOX 360 comes out. I will buy it the first day it comes out (I already have it reserved!). I hope the XBOX 1 games are compatible with XBOX 360's interface. If they are, I will make my XBOX into a linux desktop (massive speed right  )

Is it me or did this topic go way off subject?

Don't feel too wierd, I pre-ordered the next Zelda game as soon as I saw it on an E3 trailer last year. The guy at the store said "You know you need to wait like two years, right?"

Well, I pre-ordered [sdt=5919]two AirPort Expresses[/sdt], pre-ordered [sdt=8033]iWork '05[/sdt], pre-ordered [sdt=8740]Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger"[/sdt]...

Yesterday, I pre-ordered Monkey Business.

BTW, I was the first one in Australian Mac community to post photos of AirPort Express :-)
