Removing the "time bomb" in NS7 PR 1

Postby Mandrake » Thu 19 Dec, 2002 8:28 pm

I'm working on a "secret project", and I need to remove the time bomb from NS7 PR 1 - is this possible?

I thought once you remove those references from your preference files, probably all.js or others. then it's done.
OR I guess the time.bomb is not working at all.

The Preview Release Versions have a "time bomb" in them, so every time after say 6 months of downloading the preview - a little box will appear saying "This Browser is out of date" and send you to download the full release.

Curious minds still want to know -- Is there a way to disable this in PR 1? My old w95 box is still using this version. I'm kind of waiting (?) for Mozilla 1.3 to be the base shell for N7.? before I update w95 puter. It's mostly a email, game box for better half and kids.

Dennis: I'm working on finding out how to remove the time-bomb, I will post here when I find out. A temporary solution is just to set the date back a year.

Mandrake --
Did you catch "Hendikins" solution to disable time bomb? I've tried it and it works like a charm. During Saturday's "End of Year" chat session, Hendikins said to edit the "Time Bomb" phrase from "true" and re-edit to "false". (location... default/pref/all-ns).
Thanks Hendikins.

Yes, changing it from "enabled" to "disabled" works perfectly. I was looking in prefs.js and XUL.mfi for the solution.
