Safari 4.0.4 released with security flaw fix

Apple released an update to its web browser, making the Safari to version 4.0.4. Safari 4.0.4 addressed a vulnerability that could allow an image file to exploit Macs with older software.

According to Apple, the flaw allowed maliciously crafted images with an embedded color profile to execute arbitrary code, or unexpectedly terminate the application. The issue does not affect Mac OS X 10.6 systems, and was already addressed with Security Update 2009-005 for Mac OS X 10.5.8 systems.

Safari 4.0.4 also offers:
  • Improved JavaScript performance
  • Improved Full History Search performance for users with a large number of history items
  • Stability improvements for third-party plug-ins, the search field and Yahoo! Mail

I, just, found out that there is a Update for Safari for Windows. I, just, finished. The download was smooth, but the installation, and opening of Safari4.0.4, for Windows was agonizing slow. About 30 min. for the installation, and nearly 5 min. to open Safari. And, another five minutes, before I was to place this reply/comment.

Antony, may be you can explain. The Setup file was v.4.3, but the installed program is 4.0.4 (as in About:Safari).
I had a Safari Setup v.4.2 and 4.3. I deleted the v.4.2, and the 4.3 is gone, as well.
The install file in my Recycle Bin says that it is v.5.31.21.10. ???

It does not matter. I removed Safari, which I had on my computer having been touted as "fast". I removed it after having waited for nearly ten minutes after posting this query.
And, the uninstallation was as much of the trial as the installation. After going three times through the "Please wait while Windows configures Safari", I ended up with a popup which never led me to completion. According to PSI, Safari was removed, but the Task manager wa, still, saying that Safari was running. Eventually, I shut it down, and thereis no trace of Safari in my Program File.
Obviously, this is not a problem with Macs, but my PC cannot handle Safari, or much of the Apple software for Windows, for that matter.
