I notice that the release notes for Mozilla 1.7 RC2 now specify that the software contains "A new set of icons for files that are associated with Mozilla on Windows," emphasis mine. 
Here are the icons in question. I look forward to them making their way to the final release of the Windows version of Mozilla 1.7.
One minor note: Two hours ago, the "Releases" page indicated that Mozilla 1.7 RC2 was released on "Mayil 17, 2004." This typo has since been corrected, but I managed to capture a screenshot before they did.

As everyone can see, the release notes are designed to be drafts for the final release of 1.7. There has been one new feature, which the drivers made an exception for: FTP uploading (see Bug 24867).
It is believed that there are no major bugs; so if anyone sees any bugs, please report them. By reporting the bugs in the release candidates (and beta, and alpha releases) you can help insure that the final release will be all the more better.
Quality Feedback Agent crash reporting tool is also now available on all platforms; so this is a great opportunity to make 1.7 solid as a rock. Please make sure you turn it on. To turn on QFA, run \mozilla.org\Mozilla\components\talkback.exe (or whatever the equivalent may be on other platforms), and keep clicking on "Next" until you get to a screen that has a check box to turn on QFA.

Antony, I'll say this for the first and last time, for the benefit of everyone else, because I know you will not consider what I have to say, and view it as something for you to argue against.
This so called "credit issue" is your issue, and yours alone, to deal with.
The whole idea of anyone getting credit for finding a bug is non-existent. I'd love to see you try and prove that you were the first person in the world to find that bug. Did you contact Robert J. Accettura, who also mentioned it? If you didn't report it, what makes you think someone else didn't find it before you, and choose not to report it?

What it says beside my name is "Reporter:". If you read the dictionary, you'll find that a reporter is someone who reports, not discovers.
What does one get for finding a bug? Nothing. You want nothing? You can have it.
So you say you alone are responsible for the discovery? You reported that you didn't see any icons on Macintosh. Did you conclude that the icons only exist on Windows based on that? It was through the verification by others, such as Mandrake, Hendikins, and jksteinhauer that all participants were able to confidently conclude that.
So you brought it up? I made the announcement. How far back down the chain do you want to go?

If you're not posting with the intent of helping others, you shouldn't be posting at all. Reply to me if you wish, whether it be privately or not. This "issue" is too ridiculous to follow up on.

I've known Robert for a while. Robert is the first person outside I first showed that thread. He was the first person suggested me to fire a bug.

If your description of “some users of both Linux and MAC” refers to the thread at SillyDog701, I believe you've made a mistake.
People here were not happy with that particular Mozilla.org's statement, rather than to get the new icons work. In plain words, people try to prove no icons exist, people try to prove the statement was wrong.

I only stated the new icons do not exist in Macintosh platform. Hence I stated that particular statement was not true.
If you paid any attention to my posts, I mentioned almost nothing regarding icons in Windows platform.
In fact, when I first contacted Robert, he told me he won't be surprised if icons weren't exist in Macintosh platform.

The current target date is May 28th.
Although there is lot of work still to be done, in terms of triaging, tracking, and fixing blocker bugs.
They also want to make good use of the crash reporting system, now that it is available on Mac.
The plan is to get a third RC out for next week, with the intention of making that into the final release. In other words, when it's ready for release, they're going to release it as RC3, just in case. According to Chris Hofmann, "Producing another release candidate (RC3) by the end of the week will be an ambitious task, but we are going to try and do it. It's going to be a busy week!"
Busy indeed, so I wouldn't be surprised if RC 3 gets pushed back to the middle of next week. (May 26th); and the final release comes out the week after (beginning May 31st).

Bug fixing. It's all under the hood now. No new features are allowed after Beta.

Quite a while back, I reported what I thought was a bug in Mozilla (Windows, my pre-Linux days) as a certain web page did not display properly. In IE and Opera, the page in question displayed fine.
As the bug report went through the process, related e-mails were received, and there was an indication that the bug was indeed valid, and a subsequent build remedied the issue.
I was the reporter (I see no harm in using that term.), I took no credit for it, but was pleased that the developers researched it further, made the determination, and fixed it.

I stopped using the Quality Feedback Agent long ago (since around NS4.61) but I'm willing to give it a try.
Once I enabled QFA, I decided to see how to turn it back off, in case I wanted to do that for any reason*.
When I ran ...\...\mozilla\components\talkback.exe again, I no longer got the screen with the checkbox but I found that I could choose between "Turn Agent Off" and "Turn Agent On" in the Settings menu.
