Why not wait until after Nov 30? All this conversation about something so irrelevant as a Theme is silly.
Netscape has been able to use other Themes, after all.

If that's the case, it'd surely only take a few button presses and mouse clicks, for AOL staffers to push
out a Netscape 7.2.x maintenance update, based upon Mozilla Suite 1.7.3. So, why haven't they? Even
while they've been planning a brand spanking new Netscape branded version of Firefox, they could've
quite easily produced a minor Netscape 7.2.x update to cover over the apparent cracks found in 7.2.
Or, have some AOL staffers in the Netscape Department just been bone idol, since 7.2 was unleashed?

its funny i couldn't use the link provided by anthony to login unless i used firefox (any IE or IE based browser would not work, at least for me anyways)

Not perfect, I know . . . but it did only take me about 20 minutes to make!

check your cookies and redirects. Make sure you enable and scripting and accepting cookies.

I hate to say that Fernando Cassia's source probably isn't fully correct on this point. The automatic build system was probably last used for Netscape 7.1. I highly doubt that anyone at AOL still knows how to use it or if it still even works. Mozilla has made a substantial number of changes since Mozilla 1.4 and it is almost certain that the automatic build system is broken.
If you remember, the SaveNetscape petition also asked for this type of an arrangement by saying:
"In our opinion, it would be even possible for AOL to release, with few resources, a "Netscape Browser Kit", in the form of a small installer, that just checks the mozilla.org web site for the last release, downloads it, and "patches-in" the logo and propietary extensions, giving the users the latest, greatest and most stable and secure Mozilla browser, with all the added benefits of the Netscape Network, AIM and ICQ sidebar tab that all current Netscape 7.1 users enjoy so much."
Unfortunately, AOL was unable to oblige Fernando's request then and they still cannot do so now. Netscape 7.2 was themed/released with manual coding work and not an automatic process. That was the major root of the numerous delays and stalled release dates. With 7.1, the release almost immediately coincided with the Mozilla release, but for 7.2 there was a substantial delay.
In order to create a Netscape 7.2.1, AOl would have to pay coders to essentially re-do 7.2 from scratch (Mozilla 1.7.3 build). The cost would be very large for a nonexistant benefit. The only user who would switch to Netscape because of the release would probably be DJGM. Most Netscape users were content using 7.1 which had many more known secure holes than 7.2. In comparision, 7.2 is almost security proof when looking at 7.1.
In short, I don't think that there is a great demand for a 7.2.1 nor is it economically feasible for AOL to produce such a version.

The differences between Mozilla 1.7.2 and 1.7.3 aren't by far as large as the changes between the 1.4 and 1.7 series, so they would probably be able to apply most of the patches for 1.7.3 directly. It probably wouldn't need to be done from scratch.
You are indeed right about the fact that many people do not upgrade Netscape. Version 6.2 and even 6.1 are still in use by lot's of people. Of course there would always be a couple of milion people that would upgrade to the new version though.

Many people who use only one Netscape version do not want to be bothered with the possible traps (Mozilla is the same). It is no help to even the moderately clueless. It allows installations which should not take place. Just go around the different newsgroup, and you will see so many people having upgrade problems. Where to install, where and what is a profile, whatever about the GRE folder? Not a single clue is given unlike other programs which will handle things for you. Now, Firefox has been modified to do things properly, and Firefox and this potentially good new Netscape stand good chance.
Anyway the message boards are up and running at the site, and there have been good suggestions.
I think that the idea to give time to get a full slate of testers and a later date of delivery is brilliant (if they pay attention; but no bets with AOL. The suits win, not the developers)
