If you go to this folder on the Netscape FTP site, there's an update-8.0.3.xpi file. Anyone still
using an earlier version of Netscape 8.x.x, can click directly on that file, and it'll download the
updater program, which will then download and install Netscape 8.0.3.1 automatically.

The Netscape 8.0.x.x Browser Updater application looks something like this . . .

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20050720 Netscape/8.0.3.1

Mozilla = Swiss Army Knife: It's versatile, reliable, and contains useful tools.
Microsoft Internet Explorer = Old Swiss Cheese: Full of holes, and it stinks!

Put it this way, if Netscape 8.x.x was available for Mac OS X (like it should be) would the Fusion theme conform to the hallowed Apple Human Interface Guidelines at all?
I would prefer Netscape 8.x for OS X (if it releases) use native OS X interface.

According to Apple Human Interface Guidelines, customised skins are allowed, but OS X's native style is preferred. In other words, we don't need any *themes*.

From the earlier builds of Netscape 7.x for Mac, entire interface and dialogues are all XUL, which is fine, but was very hard to have all the behaviours required by OS X.

Using native skins is faster in windows drawing.

As for the Fusion theme, Apple Human Interface Guidelines does not say you can't put a logo on the left-hand side. However, the menubar must to the the top of the screen, of course.
And it's not simply enough... The basic requirement is "simplicity".

Thanks for reporting J-M.

Do we have any feedbacks on Netscape 8.0.3.1?

What happened to 8.0.3.1 download page Confused Confused

http://browser.netscape.com/ns8/download/default.jsp
says

"Download The Netscape Browser, v8.0.2"

Release Notes: "Version 8.0.2 - based on Firefox"

Security Alerts: including only "The Netscape Browser, v8.0.1 includes all Firefox security patches up to 1.0.4."

(Yes, cleared a cache and checked with another browser too.)
Maybe they had some accident with their Web site??

Okay, according to Mr. Jay Garcia,
8.0.3.1 was pulled until some critical issues are fixed and a patch becomes available.

You can still get 8.0.3.1 by installing 8.0.2 and downloading the update-8.0.3.xpi file that DJGM mentioned.

From NetscapeProduct,
8.0.3.1 was pulled temporarily due to a bug effecting downloading for some users. We've isolated the problem and a patch will be issued shortly.

Thanks for your patience.

(Msg # 2612.1)

Please note, not everybody is affected.

You are not the only one to miss the passwords. I think that it has to do with the different format of NS8.x. I had no problem because I imported my settings from 8 beta, going back to last November. At least, I think so.
I will keep 8.0.3.1, which has giving me no problem, but not worked up if things don't work as expected. I am expecting that things don't work. I am usijng the realistic approach. I get worried when things work.

still believe that netscape 8 release was a disaster.
netscape 7.2 is good but this new one should never have been released.
the recommended requirements are way too high.

It seems that because of this situation US-CERT unit can't offer download link to non-affected Netscape 8 version:

From their vulnerability note at http://www.kb.cert.org/vuls/id/996798 :

Quote:
III. Solution
Upgrade

This vulnerability is addressed in Firefox 1.0.5 and Netscape 8.0.3.1 and later.

when discussing about Mozilla Firefox insecurely handles content from external applications vulnerability.
