The battery life for 15-inch MacBook Pro and 17-inch MacBook Pro are 4.5 hours and 5.5 hours listed, respectively.

$2799 for a base model? That'd make this the second-highest price I've seen on a laptop since a few years ago, second to the Voodoo Envy u:709!

It's only US$ 100 more compared to previous 17-inch PowerBook G4.

The first 17-inch PowerBook G4 was released in January 2003 with a price tag of US$ 3299.

In February 2005, 17 inch PowerBook G4 was priced at US$ 2699
(1.67GHz PowerPC G4 processor, 512MB of PC2700, 128MB ATI Mobility Radeon 9700)

Later in Oct 2005, 17-inch PowerBook G4 features 8x SuperDrive and 1680x1050 display at same US$ 2699 price tag.

For only US$100 extra, you can get double the amount of RAM (and faster RAM) + 8x DL SuperDrive + better video card (double VRAM) and much more...

The new 17-inch MacBook Pro - 5x Faster. 36% brighter. iLife '06. Still 1-inch thin. Just $2799.

If you upgrade the 15-inch MacBook Pro to 2.16GHz, the price is US$ 2799.

If you choose the 17-inch model, you can get larger display, 8x double-layer SuperDrive (compared to 4x SuperDrive), FireWire 800 port, an additional USB 2.0 port, longer battery life, and larger Serial ATA HDD... all for the same price (US$ 2799).

It is clearly that the price tag for 17-inch MacBook Pro is very attractive when you compared to previous 17-inch PowerBook G4 models and even the 15.4-inch MacBook Pro.

Apple's MacBook Pro 17" is in fact cheaper than Dell's.

More detail at this post in our Apple Mac vs PC thread.

LOL, I've never seen a 17-inch screen from another manufacturer! I love Apple.
