Netscape released 7.02 base is not stable. Crashed/ hanged for 3 times in less than one hour. Not recommended!

04 Mar, 2003 9:10 am Problem installing Streamline 7.02 |
[sdp=8603] |
|
Have tried twice to d/l and install Streamline 7.02. Both times the download appeared to terminate normally, but both times the installation failed to complete, and I got an error msg saying that the installation file is probably corrupted.
FWIW, I use Windows ME. The downloaded file has a size of 13,263,425 bytes.

Netscape 7.02 Streamline and Navigator 7.02 stand-alone are now with updated Flash player (6.0 r79). Current user of existing Streamline 7.02 does not need to re-download the streamline. Simply re-install Flash player from Macromedia will fix the security issue.

I'm running SillyDog7.01 at the moment. Do I have to uninstall 7.01 before I upgrade to SillyDog7.02?
Thanks.

Aside the fact that NS7.02 is five years old, and, sorely, outdated, Flash was handled as a .dll plugin file, in the NS plugins folder. This method messed up Flash in programs up to NS7.2.
Since then, some two years ago or so, Flash began to install its files in a system folder.
There is no more need to have npswf32.dll files in Netscape. In fact, such file may cause problems, conflicting with the Flash system file, which should be inactivated.

Perhaps time for a new or updated version.

Hansh,
NS7.02 will work, and it is the only choice for early Mac OSs. I don't own a Mac, so I am not sure which OS limits the update. The same goes for Flash.
