28 Oct, 2009 9:31 am Copying Old SM profile to SM 2 |

I just installed Seamonkey 2 for my wife. Her profile info (bookmarks, etc.) were imported but mine were not. Where do I find my OLD version SM profile files? I know where the SM 2 files are, just not the older version. By the way, I use Windows Vista Home premium, 64 bit.

Windows XP: Sp2, Norton Internet Security, Malwarebytes, SuperAntiSpyware, Spybot Search and Detroy, and AVG 7 for the laptop, user of SeaMonkey and Firefox 3.08. Wife uses latest SeaMonkey on her laptop. Last edited by humpd on 28 Oct, 2009 9:33 am; edited once(1) |

The physical program files were located in:
C:>Program Files (x86)>mozilla.org>SeaMonkey
The profile data was located in
Run>%APPDATA%>Mozilla>SeaMonkey (I believe.)
SeaMonkey should have automatically imported a copy of your profile, if it didn't that could mean that there was a problem with your profile.

Thanks. I assumed when I installed SM 2 that only one profile would be installed. I did not click the other name because my wife is the primary user. In any event, this should not be a problem since I now have the file locations. Thanks everyone.

Have now "migrated" sm 1.1.18 profiles to 2.0 on two machines.
In both cases, not all the newsgroups got moved over.
But real question is: how can I tell whether I actually migrated
a profile, or whether I am merely using the old 1.1.18 profile.
What can I look for being different or changed after the migration???

SeaMonkey 1.1.x and SeaMonkey 2.0 use different profile types. So, there is no way to use a 1.1.18 profile in SeaMonkey 2.0.
When importing your old profile, SeaMonkey makes a copy of everything in the new format, and uses the new copy.
Also, the program files, and profiles are kept in different folders than that of the old version.

1.1.8 profile path: C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\mozilla.org\SeaMonkey\Profiles\default\xxxxxx.slt
2.0 profile path: C:\Documents and Settings\Fulvio Perini\Application Data\Mozilla\SeaMonkey\Profiles\xxxxxx.default
As you can see the format of 2.0 is like Firefox. And, as one can see, comparing 1.1.8 with 2.0/Firefox, the formats are different. But, Mail is the same in both versions.
