Apple Computer Australia Pty Ltd opens Australian iTunes Music Store.
The iTunes Music Store Australia (AU) has the same DRM as other iTunes Music Store, songs are priced at AU$1.69 per song and AU$16.99 per album, and videos are priced at AU$3.39 for Pixar short and music videos.
There will be AU$20, AU$50, and AU$100 iTunes Music Cards from Coles Myer stores.
Major disappointment:
Sony BMG and TV shows are not yet available from iTunes AU.

The catalogue in iTunes AU is a lot smaller than then the USA one, and no TV shows available now, I think I will stick with USA account as my main account.
Now, I have three iTunes Music Store accounts (iTunes USA, iTunes UK, and iTunes AU).
Again, the important thing... Don't steal music
(as usual)
You can support SillyDog701 by buy your favourite music and TV shows and own them legally from any iTunes link in any SillyDog701 pages.

That's a bad idea. What's the point of there being nationalized versions of the iTunes Music Store if those countries' users use the USA store anyway?
One should always use one's country's iTMS. The iTunes USA Music Store should only be used by either American users, or by users whose country doesn't have an iTunes Music Store yet.

don't use US iTunes store? Why not?
More content, better content, US TV. Why did apple bother with an australian store?
I use a US iTunes account and don't bother with an ozzie one anymore.

How did you get iTMS USA/UK accounts if you don't have addresses in the States, or here in the UK? |
Easy, but you forgot to ask me how I have iTunes account here in Australia.
My friend Adrian who lives in the UK bought me iTunes UK Gift Certificates.
As for my iTunes USA account, it started with Store Card, and now, my Australian credit card works.
I think I am able to get an iTunes Canada account.

You have an iTunes Music Store account over there in Australia because ... you live there of course!
But ... how exactly did you get your iTunes USA account if you don't have an address in the USA?
Try as I might (And I've tried, and tried and I've flamin' well tried!) I still can't buy anything
at all from the iTunes USA store, since my Apple ID is registered in the UK.
The only why I can see that i'd be able to buy anything from iTunes USA, would be to create an
all new Apple ID. Of course, that requires me to enter my (snail mail, not an e-mail) address.
So ... if I continued down that path, to get an all new Apple ID, I'd end up with two iTMS UK
accounts, and I'd still be denied the right to purchase anything whatsover from iTMS USA!
And before anyone starts asking me why I seem to be so desperate (not housewives) to have
an iTMS USA account ... all I'm going to say, is that involves episodes of a classic 1980's
television series featuring a talking car that answered to the name of KITT . . . !

Dear DJGM, I know you are desperate, but I might have to disappoint you on watching movies through iTunes.
To watch videos through iTunes, you will need to have QuickTime 7 (or later) installed, and
1.5 GHz Pentium class processor or better 32MB video RAM (for PC)
Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later, 500 MHz G4 processor or better, QuickTime 7.0.3 or later, and 16MB video RAM (for Mac).
I know you can watch the video bought from iTMS directly from QuickTime 7 (without iTunes), but your Mac must be able to handle H.264 correctly (and smoothly). I am not sure if you can do so in PC or now.
Further, your machine must be able to playback H.264 videos at 650 kbits/sec data rate.

Strange ... the preview clips seem to work fine, even on this ageing PC. Same on the my B+W G3 Mac.
Anyway, even though this computer (or my Mac) might not meet the recommended requirements for
viewing video content purchased and downloaded from the iTMS. But of course, once the actual
video files for each program are downloaded to my HDD, they can easily be archived for future
use ... like when I finally upgrade my PC (and Mac) to something a bit more up to date.
Mind you, by the time I can afford that, I guess all the relevant copyright holders for the programs
currently only avaialble on iTMS USA, may well have licensed it all for iTMS UK and elsewhere.

Ahhh ... now there's a step in the right direction. And although my computers may still not be of the
necessary spec to play iTMS video purchases, I certainly intend to purchase a video enabled iPod
sometime this year. Here's hoping Knight Rider is among the NBC shows coming to iTMS UK.
