Thanks for the update, Antony. It's very tempting but it's still a release candidate so I'll continue waiting. But I sure am getting anxious. Very Happy

Go for it! At release candidate stage, is no longer beta, but not quite final. This release is very close
to what'll soon be offered up as Firefox 1.5 final. As long as you install it in a seperate directory to
your main installation of Firefox 1.0.x, you should have no major problems with it at all . . .

SeaMonkey = Swiss Army Knife: It's versatile, reliable, and contains useful tools.
Windows Internet Explorer = Old Swiss Cheese: Full of holes, and it stinks!

Actually, I only download it for taking a screenshot.
I won't use Firefox 1.5 RC 1 for the time being. I will wait for a more stable release.

I have been using beta2, and i got the update by way of Help|Check for Updates. I was warned that it would not be compatible with my latest roboform extention, which I got earlier, today. So, I wasted time uninstalling Roboform. The download was over 600Kb, and after rebooting rc1 started checking my extention, and checking, and checking. Five minutes was long enough, and, I clicked Cancel. I hope that it will behave as well as beta2.
I like the new features of 1.5, and so far, it has not conflicted with 1.0.7, as default browser. That was one of the biggest problems with Mozilla and Netscape, which, constantly grabbed the other's default.
If this continues, I may want to keep 1.0.7, when 1.5 becomes final.

According to MOzilla Developer News, Firefox 1.5 Release Candidate 2 should be released as early as 11th November, depending on the feedback of RC 1.

I've been using RC1 for several days nowas my main browser. I'm getting an occasional crash, mostly on ebay & the same issues with fonts I mentioned with 1.05 beta 2. Other then that all seems ok. It does crash more on my Win 98 SE system then any other recent build, but still useable.

One other comment for Win 98 users like myself; while this build is a LITTLE unstable, the ubiquitous Win 98 memory leak issues appear (subjectively) to be much improved with this release. Normally running NB Pro (Usenet file downloader) along with Firefox requires a reboot (or at minimum a ram flush) on my machine after a couple hours. That no longer appears to be the case.

I have been using Beta2 for a long time with SaFire 0.35 theme, PDF Download & Compact Menu without any problems. After installing PR1 Firefox was checking for compatibility for a long time, until the process was canceled.
In any case: Theme and Extensions are working just fine for the moment. Weird.

I've been using Firefox 1.5 betas and release candidates as my primary browser for quite a few weeks, and I have found it to be reasonably stable, even on Windows 95 (!).

It has never crashed with an illegal operation dialogue yet; as such, I actually find it more stable than Firefox 1.0.x.

I'm finding the recent Mozilla Firefox 1.5 builds to be more stable, and faster, than Firefox 1.0.x.
