Same answer as for any other program. Unless officially stated, the answer is: It depends on your definition of "soon". But there is the so-called tree at the Mozilla website, which gives a liat of steps or goals to be attained. I have not checked with it,lately.

I just visited the Mozilla site. And, they say 1.1beta was frozen on July31. They will expect to have a 1.1 about mid-August.
They are proceeding to 1.2alpha, and then beta. The goal for 1.2 is Mid-November. In the meantime 1.01 derived from the 1.0 could be out toward the end of August.

Expect 1.1 branching on Monday and a release as early as within a week from then.
