Mozilla Firefox 1.5 Release Candidate 3 available

Postby beanboy89 » Thu 17 Nov, 2005 7:19 pm

The Mozilla Foundation has made the third release candidate of Mozilla Firefox 1.5 available. The release notes are not yet updated to include Release Candidate 3, but The Burning Edge had posted an unofficial changelog which includes two "notable bug fixes" in RC3.

This is good to hear. I'll bet the final version will be released within a couple weeks.

The two notable bug fixes are:
Bug ID 316025 - Crash at allaccess.com and MySpace (over 20% of all RC2 crashes).
Bug ID 315189 - Setting [tt]innerHTML[/tt] to a string containing a [tt]<style>[/tt] tag causes display problems (e.g. at Yahoo! Mail Beta) or crashes.

One bug I found, (I did not experience this bug in [sdt=10218]Firefox 1.5 RC2[/sdt])

I can't open the Preference by keyboard shortcut, the well established shortcut - Command (:cmd:) + comma (,) - does not work. It can still be access from menu.

According to Keyboard Shortcuts section in Apple Human Interface Guidelines (Apple HIG),
In addition to the keyboard shortcuts reserved by the system, there are a large number of keyboard shortcuts that have a well established meaning, such as Command-S for Save and Command-Q for Quit. Users accustomed to running applications in Mac OS X expect these keyboard shortcuts to be available and to mean the same thing in each application they use.

Command (:cmd:) + comma (,) is well established in Mac applications, and it is labelled in the Firefox menu.

Note: Command is usually abbreviated as "CMD", it refers to the key with a cloverleaf symbol (:cmd:) and an Apple logo on it; the term "Apple key" is not correct.

The incremental update from Help|Check for Updates works. The update was so small that I did not see its size( or my cable is really working).
All the extentions are alive and well.

By the way, today with rc3, and yesterday with rc2, the Quality Feedback Agent came on when I exited. There has been nothing amiss while in the browser.
I just wonder if anyone experienced this. I will add to this post if it happens again.
It happened again, and both times I exited from WindowsBBS. As you would expect, it did not act up the third time.
